Clan War Base Design

Push storage buildings out:
Even though the enemy can gain resources during a war raid, you cannot lose any resources in a clan war.  Since we don't care about the enemy gaining resources (only care about stars) the storage buildings should be used as shields.

The storages have relatively high hit-points so place them between where the enemy will attack and the defensive units.  While the enemy is hacking away at these buildings, your defense buildings behind the storage units are bombing like crazy with protection.

Pull defenses in:
This does two things. First, the defense units will last longer, so more damage per unit.  Second, once the enemy reaches the units, much of your defense can now hit them because everything is compacted together.  Deadly combo.

Protect your TH:
If you are like me, I keep my TH outside the walls while I am farming. The TH should be in the center of your defenses because a TH loss is a automatic star.  Make then work hard for every single star.

Dummy buildings in corners:
In order to get three-started, the enemy must destroy 100%. This takes a long time. If the army must rush from the main base to a corner (or four), the three minutes could run out and we save a star.  Every star counts!  I tend to put builder huts or other buildings in each corner for my war base layout.  Again, make them work for every star - could make the difference.

Clan castle near middle:
I want my dragon to be released as soon as possible regardless of which side the enemy attacks. If you put the cc on one side, there are two potential downsides. First, the enemy could draw the dragon out and kill the beast out of reach from your defenses (very sad event).  Second, the dragon may sit in the cc most of the war if the enemy attacks the opposite side (another sad event).  Release the Beast!

Remember - you now have 3 separate war base layouts that you can change (up to 24 hours before the war) without impacting your regular base. Click the war button and the 'Edit War Base' icon is in the bottom right.  Revise your layout early and ask for feedback if desired.
